5 Efficient Ways To Stop Procrastinating
Posted on 17. Jun, 2010 by Jo-Ann in Lifestyle
You have a task to complete. However, you find all the time in the world to do other things. Instead of getting the job done we find time for facebook, twitter, checking our e-mail and surfing blogs. Truth is most of us are acquainted with the whole procrastination “disease”. Sometimes we tend to oversleep just because we don’t feel like doing the task even though we have a deadline to meet. Instead we put it off for the last minute. Nevertheless we eventually get the task done, just not to the best of our abilities and many times it gets put off for some other time.
If you can stop procrastination in your life just think of how much better and accomplished you would feel?! Don’t let procrastination take over your life! Everyone seems to have the “cure” for procrastination. However if we are going to overcome this phase of our lives we need to take a much more practical approach. Five efficient methods to help correct procrastination include:
1.You must get started by being organized. This will help to clear your head a bit and will allow you to avoid chaotic and overwhelming feelings .Organizing your life is healthy and will allow you to stay on track.
2.You need to follow a schedule. Clearly setting out your goals and what you intend to achieve within a set time frame. Always write down what you need to achieve. No matter how good of a memory you have. A daily planner would be perfect. For the more tech savvy persons you may want to update the planners on your cell phones more often. The choice is yours. Always set a time frame or a deadline date! Sometimes it is better to set an earlier date just to keep you on track.
3.Change your environment. Many times the environment of choice is not the best for us. Always remember the environment has an immense impact on our level of productivity. Take a good look around you. As soon as you start to take a crack at your task….do you feel sleepy? If so then it is important to change up your workspace. Your workspace needs to be an inspiration for you!
4.Start with the simplest or hardest of tasks. This will give you a drive to get certain tasks out of the way and will end up motivating you to go further. Whether you get a kick out of doing the easier task which usually motivates you to attack the harder task OR you get the kick from getting the harder task out of the way making it easier for you to complete the easier tasks, the choice is yours. This is a good tool and should be implemented in your lives.
5.Associate yourself with friends or persons who inspire you. Believe it or not the persons you hang around influence our behaviours. Distinguish those friends or colleagues around you that are hard workers. You will begin to adopt many of their good habits and that “extra drive” they radiate, after hanging around them for some time. Overtime you will begin to implement some of their characteristics into your own lifestyle. In turn you may just become an inspiration for someone else. And by then you would have overcome procrastination!
Goodluck!
